The Logistics team is a specialized group of technical experts
whose construction-purchasing and expediting skills are based on a
foundation of equipment purchasing for Turner and Tompkins Builders.
Working with the project team, Tompkins Logistics provides
assistance in assessing all aspects of a project to identify
elements that can benefit from direct purchasing, thus assisting in
the protection of the project budget and schedule. The
construction purchasing background of our staff enables Logistics to
tackle any specified item that becomes a critical purchase –
critical not only in terms of project schedule, but also in terms of
project budget and product selection. Tompkins Logistics can assist
in purchasing various items that should be considered for direct
purchases early in the construction period.
Our staff works hand-in-hand with the Project Team, the Client,
the Architectural / Mechanical / Electrical Engineers, and the
Design Team to assess the potential value, to solidify and
streamline the project schedule, and to develop the direct purchase
strategy.

Tompkins has national agreements with manufacturers creating
turnarounds in usually a week. The result:
- 25% cut off shop drawing and fabrication time
- All preliminary work for material procurement done by
Tompkins instead of the having to write the usual purchase
contracts taking months, signed Purchase Order sheets are sent
out taking approximately one (1) week
- When Tompkins’ Logistics is involved from the beginning,
about 8-16 weeks are saved on the delivery of equipment
