Tompkins Builders Awarded First BRAC Contract to
Build the Sustained Center of Excellence (SCOE) at Fort Lee, VA
Washington, D.C., July 18, 2007
Tompkins Builders and design partner Michael Baker Jr., Inc.,
have been selected by the Norfolk District US Corps of Engineers as
the design/build team for the new $50 million Sustained Center of
Excellence headquarters (SCOE) at Fort Lee, VA. This award is the
first Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) contact issued by the Army
at Fort Lee, and among the first BRAC contracts issued by the Army.
With construction set to begin in August 2007, the new 4-story,
230,000-SF administrative facility will house a new integrated
command administrative and operations facility. The building’s
primary exterior finish will be composed of brick and pre-cast
concrete and work will be completed in January 2009.
