TOMPKINS BUILDERS AWARDED LANGLEY AIR FORCE BASE HOSPITAL
ADDITION IN VA

Tompkins Builders, Inc., a subsidiary of Turner Construction
Company, has been awarded a $57 million contract for the
construction of an addition to Langley Air Force Base Hospital in
VA. The project is scheduled to begin in December and be completed
by the end of 2008.
The scope of work will include construction of a 150,000-sq.-ft.,
addition and renovations to 98,000-sq.-ft. of the existing facility.
The new building will be a three-story steel frame structure on
piles, while the exterior will be constructed of brick veneer with
cast stone details over metal studs and existing building will be
refaced with a brick veneer and new window frames. Additionally, the
central plant renovation includes the replacement of the 167-ton
chiller, the steam boilers and the associated equipment. A medical
gas system will serve the addition.
