TOMPKINS BUILDERS CELEBRATES TOPPING OUT OF
PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY ADULT DETENTION CENTER
EXPANSION

On June 8, Tompkins Builders celebrated the topping out of the
Prince William County Adult Detention Center Expansion, a fivestory,
200-cell adult detention center, which is connected to the existing
Adult Detention Center and the Judicial Center Building. The project
is scheduled to be completed in July 2008.
Owned by Prince William County, the Prince William County Adult
Detention Center includes the construction of 122,000 SF of secured
jail space which contains 96 double precast cell modules with
precast plenums and monolithic balconies. In addition to the cells,
the project contains intake, holding areas, dayrooms, commercial
kitchen, offices, and magistrates offices.
Tompkins Builders President Ed Small said, “We are extremely
